Students Welfare Activities

Sports and Recreation

The Institute encourages extra-curricular activities outside the class room that enrich cultural, physical and social life of students in the campus. The facilities for outdoor games like cricket and indoor games like chess, carrom, table tennis, badminton, etc are also provided in the hostel. A well equipped gymkhana has been set up for the students. A music room with musical instruments is one of the attractions for students. Colour television sets are provided both in ladies and gents hostels. A library consisting of various leading national newspapers in English and Hindi are being subscribed to along with several magazines.

Personality Development

Special programs and lectures are arranged from time to time for the personality development of post-graduate students. Several competitions like elocution, debate, essay writing, etc. are also organized.

Computer Facilities

The Institute has well-developed computer facilities. Every student has access to computer and internet for academic matters.

Campus Interviews

Private companies related to fisheries industry are encouraged from time to time for conducting campus interviews of the postgraduate students. Various companies provide competitive job opportunities to the young graduates.

New Year Party Report

ICAR-CIFE Welcomes New Year With A Bang

A gigantic function on the eve of New Year was celebrated in ICAR-CIFE in keeping with its long tradition. A party on that eve started in evening with participation of students, scientists and employees of the Institute. The party mood was further pumped up by open air dance with DJ. Extent of fun further expanded with exciting games involving children, students as well as scientists, especially games like spoon race for children, music chair for students, balloon game for couples were add-on to the fun basket. Winners were given prizes by the Director. A delicious dinner was arranged by PGSSU (Post Graduate School Students Union) on that occasion. When the clock struck 12 O’clock, every one welcomed the New Year 2016 with joy by cutting cakes, flying beautiful sky lanterns and helium balloons.

ICAR-CIFE Experiences the Festive Flavour

CIFE,26/2 ICAR-CIFE campus was culturally active during last two months as festivals like Christmas, Saraswati puja and Satyanarayan puja were celebrated in the campus. On the eve of Christmas a colourful function was organised by the students of CIFE. Function started with praise and worship in the name of god. Dignitaries were welcome by members of PGSSU which was followed by a welcome speech by brother Femi Fawale. Then a speech on that occasion was given by the Director, ICAR-CIFE which followed by cultural programmes like skit, scripture reading, solo and group songs by students dance and action by staff kids. The programme got ended with closing hymn by praise and worship team. Saraswati puja was also observed in the campus by the students on 13th February. Students started decorating the puja place on the day before puja with rangoli, coloured paper and light. Puja of the godess of knowledge was started at 10am with a lot of devotion in the PhD boys hostel which was also participated by the director and scientists of the institute. A visarjan ceremony was also performed on that occasion on 14th February. Last in the row a satyanarayan puja was also celebrated in the campus by the employees of ICAR-CIFE.
