Students

Students are the core strength of University. Along with Faculty, they constitute the soft power of an Institution. At any given point of time the University has about 160 Masters and 150 PhD scholars besides about 50 students / entrepreneurs enrolled for Professional Development Program (PDP), Entrepreneurship Development Program and various short term Skill Development Programs.

ICAR-CIFE students are the cream of fisheries professionals with representation from almost all States of India and many of the Afro-Asian countries. Every year they are selected through very competitive national entrance test and cancelling / interview process. All of them who graduate successfully are placed almost immediately in Agricultural Research Service, International Laboratories, State Fisheries Colleges, State Fisheries Departments, Development Agencies or become Entrepreneurs.


  • Academic Disciplines

    ICAR-CIFE offers two years Masters (Masters in Fisheries Science) and three years Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in as many as eleven specialised disciplines of fisheries sciences, perhaps one of its kinds in the world.

  • Current Students

    ICAR-CIFE follows the Semester system of education. The two year MFSc program has four semesters and the three year PhD program has six semesters. Academic Council is the highest decision making body related to academic issues while the Office of Dean (Academics) monitors the academic activities regularly as per the Academic Calendar.
