Major Achievements:
  • Breeding and seed production of IMC at D-85 hatchery: First environmentally controlled CIFE D-85 (Dwivedi Modern Carp Hatchery D-85) was innovated by Dr.S.N. Dwivedi in India. In this model the major components are breeding tank (2000 liters), egg incubation jar (200 liters) and spawn collection unit. The egg loading capacity is around 0.8 – 1.0 million. In this controlled system breeding is possible prior to rain with high percentage of hatching (92-95%).
  • Breeding, hatchery installation and rearing of Clarias magur: A well-designed state of the art catfish hatchery has been developed at this center for full filing the requirement of catfish seed demand in this region. A standard protocol of catfish breeding and rearing has been developed by this center.
  • Controlled breeding and seed production of Ompok Species: The induced breeding and seed production of Ompok bimaculatus have been developed and demonstrated at this center.
  • Giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) seed production using artificial sea water: Seed production of giant fresh water prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) have been developed and demonstrated at this Centre
  • Breeding and seed production of Minor carps: Breeding and seed production of minor carp Labeo calbasu have been developed and demonstrated at this Centre.
