  • Comparative physiology and endocrinology of fish, in particular failure of captive maturation, sex differentiation and manipulation.
  • To gain insight into osmo/ionic regulation and acclimation to special environment aiming fish/shellfish welfare.

Research Achievements
  • Developed method of isolation and labeling of type A spermatogonial cells from an Indian major carp for the purpose of germ cell transplantation.
  • Identified suitable hormonal markers for selecting most suitable females and males for inducing spawning in pond reared hilsa (Tenualosa ilisha).
  • Elucidated roles of various ionocytes and ion-transporters in acclimation of hilsa migrating through salt barriers.
  • Enlightened multiple stressors induced inhibition of various ion-transporters and channels in euryhaline fish.
