Ongoing project (2023-26)

  • Reproductive endocrinology and captive breeding of one-stripe spiny eel, Macrognathus aral.

Other achievements

  • Refined the artificial breeding technique, embryonic and larval ontogeny and developed larval rearing and F1 broodstock of hilsa.
  • Developed, refined, popularized the homestead modular hatchery technology of Mystus gulio.
  • Developed captive induced maturation technique and understand the molecular mechanism of E2 dependent regulation of dopamine in Liza parsia.
  • Developed the captive broodstock and induced breeding of Yellow fin bream in RAS.
  • Developed and popularized periphyton and IMTA based farming of milkfish and shrimp.
  • Developed Intensive farming technique of seabass, catfish and yellow fin bream in RAS
  • Dr. Prem Kumar, Sr. Scietist, Kakdwip Research Centre of CIBA has awarded best oral presentation award under aquaculture theme in 1st indian fishereies outlook 2022 on priming indian fisheries in attaining sustainable development goals on paper entitled “Effects of slow delivery of human chorionic gonadotropin, carp pituitary extract, and their combination through osmotic pumps on sexual maturation of female goldspot mullet, Liza parsia” held at icar cifri, barrackpore, kolkata, west bengal during 22-24 march, 2022.
  • Dr. Prem Kumar, Sr. Scientist from Kakdwip Research Centre of CIBA has secured best oral presentation award (2nd position) under the theme on Innovation for Nutritional Security on paper entitled “ Effect of biofloc versus mixed zooplankton, artemia and rotifer on growth, survival and Intestinal health of hilsa, Tenualosa ilisha larvae” in the International conference on Responsible Aquaculture and Sustainable Fisheries Interact (RASHI-2022) during 13-16 December, 2022 at College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University, Lembucherra, Tripura, India.
