About ARSSF
The ARS Scientists Forum was created and registered as a society in 1980 (Reg. No. SR/ARSSF-164/80 - Regd. under Societies Reg. Act, XXI of 1860). In 1995, ICAR recognised it as a formal body representing the interests and voice of Scientists working with ICAR institutions across India. Aims and Objectives
To develop a culture and outlook which could become the tradition of the Agricultural Scientific community. To promote and advance agricultural research in the country. To facilitate scientists’ participation in formulation and execution of agricultural research policy in the country. To protect the interests and look after the welfare of the Agricultural Research Service Scientists in order to bring about excellence and relevance in the purpose of their mission.
Membership
The membership of the Forum is open to all the serving scientists of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The ICAR scientists interested in promoting professional excellence in research, education and development and believe in fostering socio-cultural fraternity among ICAR Scientists and whose admission would promote the interests of the Forum are eligible for Life Membership on payment of prescribed fees.
Having its office at ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, ARSSF is run by a democratically elected Central Executive Committee and is governed by its constitution and bylaws. Each of the constituent institutes of ICAR has an ARSSF Unit that is managed by a duly elected Executive Committee. Elections to the local Unit as well as the central ARSSF are held once in three years.
