ENHANCING FARMERS’ INCOME

“ONE-DAY WORKSHOP ON SCIENTIFIC FISH CULTURE FOR ENHANCING FARMERS’ INCOME”

On the occasion of Hindi Pakhwada celebrations (14th-29th September,2017), a one-day workshop on “SCIENTIFIC FISH CULTURE FOR ENHANCING FARMERS’ INCOME” was organized at ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Kakinada centre on 22.09.2017. This was organised under the leadership of Dr. Gopal Krishna, Director, ICAR-CIFE. Dr. Parimal Sardar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFE, and Dr.Muralidhar P. Ande, Officer-in-charge, ICAR-CIFE, Kakinada centre, coordinated the programme. Workshop was conducted in Hindi and Telugu. About 80 fish and shrimp farmers, from different parts of the East Godavari district, A.P., students of one year skill development course and research scholars participated. Four scientific lectures farmers interaction and technical session were included workshop. Dr. Parimal Sardar interacted with the farmers on feed and feeding strategies for sustainable feed-based aquaculture. In addition to this, Dr. Muralidhar P. Ande, gave a talk on Challenges and opportunities in Pangasius farming. In the forenoon session Dr. P.Ram Mohan Rao, Deputy Director, (Retired),State Institute of Fishery Technology, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Kakinada delivered a lecture on Sustainable Carp culture technology for enhancing farmers’ income. Another Progressive shrimp farmer and shrimp hatchery owner, Dr. K.Madhusudhan Reddy, Konapapapeta, E.G.Dt., A.P. delivered a talk on Challenges and opportunities in Litopenaeus vannamei farming.

On this occasion, Sh. Ravi Shankar Patnaik, Chairman-Hindi implementation committee, Dr. J. Krishna Prasad, Chief Technical officer, Other Assistant Chief Technical Officers, Dr. P. Srinivasa Rao, Sh. K. Murali Mohanand Sh. V. Narsimhacharyulu also participated in the programme. At this event, certificates were distributed to passed out eleven students of one-year skill development certificate course on “Fish farming and hatchery operation” (2016-17 batch). Sh. Ravi Shankar Patnaik proposed the formal vote of thanks.
