ICAR-CIFE Hostel Day celebrated on 6th March 2017

ICAR-CIFE Hostel Day was celebrated on 6th March 2017 with enthusiasm and joy! Under the umbrella of CIFE WAVE, a number of events were organized. But the Hostel Day which was named as SHOAL DAY– 2017 was the highlight of CIFE Wave due to it being organized on the last day! This was the Grand Finale Day of the CIFE Wave. The Hostel Day was celebrated with lot of energy, vibrancy and enthusiasm by the young students of CIFE on 6th March 2017 by all the 3 hostels of CIFE, Mumbai.
The auspicious moment of inauguration of the Hostel Day began with the ribbon cutting and lighting of the lamp by Dr. Gopal Krishna, Director, ICAR-CIFE. Dr. N.P. Sahu, Dean (Academics), Dr. Arpita Sharma, Warden (Girls Hostel), Dr. K. Pani Prasad, Warden (Boys Hostel) and Dr. Swadesh Prakash, Dean (Students Welfare) were present in this event and mentioned that this is a day which is very important as hostel life and friends are cherished for ever. PGSSU team and students coordinated this event with joy.
All the Heads of the Division and some of the faculty attended the grand cake cutting ceremony with the PGSSU Team, students and staff of the hostel. Everyone shared a piece of cake and interacted with each other in a jovial mood.
The hostel day had a number of events lined up after this. Variety of events and entertainment programmes like, lemon in spoon competition, sack race, candle lighting competition and drinking water competitions were held. Students participated in these competitions and bagged lot of prizes. In the candle lighting competition, 1st prize was awarded to Sivagurunathan and 2nd to Santhana Kumar among boys. Among girls, 1st prize was awarded to Bhargavi and 2nd to Oishi. An unique completion was organized where students had to drink water and time was recorded. Among boys, 1st prize went to Chetan and 2nd to Tapas among boys and among girls1st prize went to Sherry and 2nd to Anjani and Jaswanti. In the sack race competition, 1st prize went to Jaspreet and 2nd to G. Kantharajan and 3rd to Rajpal in boys. Among girls 1st prize went to Sidhika, 2nd to Bhumika and 3rd to Neriyeng. In the lemon in spoon race 1st place was won by Jaspreet, 2nd by Khemraj in boys and among girls 1st prize was won by Kiranmayi and 2nd by Bhumika.
Towards the end of the day, a grand Cultural Evening was held where students danced on various themes and dressed in colourful cultural attires.
Prize distribution was done during the Cultural Evening by Dr. Gopal Krishna, Director, ICAR-CIFE and his wife Dr. Sujata Saxena.
The hostel staff were given appreciation awards for the contribution and dedication with which they work in the hostel. The Hostel Day ended with a grand gala dinner arranged in the hostel itself. The Hostel Day was enjoyable and full of joy creating lighter moments for the students and faculty to cherish.
