Shri Thakur Singh Bharmouri, Hon’ble Minister of Forest and Fisheries, Himachal Pradesh accompanied by Shri Gurcharan Singh, Director-cum-Warden of Fisheries, Himachal Pradesh visited ICAR-CIFE Mumbai on 5^th January 2017.

The purpose of visit was to see the facilities, interact with the scientists and to explore the possible technical and extension support to the state of Himachal Pradesh. During the interaction Dr.Gopal Krishna, Director, ICAR-CIFE welcomed the Hon’ble minister and explained the activities of the institute and expertise available in different areas.

Hon’ble Minister emphasised on the production of organic fish, expressing his concern on health issues with the use of inorganic fertilizers, outbreak of diseases and other environmental concerns. Director Fisheries, H.P. requested CIFE experts to provide necessary support in developing low cost feed for trout & carps and Skill Development Training Programmes for Officers and Farmers. Director CIFE assured full support for which details will be worked out in consultation with Director Fisheries, Himachal Pradesh. Heads of Divisions and senior faculty were present in the meeting and gave their inputs. Hon’ble Minister expressed his gratitude to the Director and scientists of CIFE for fruitful discussions.
