ICAR Proposed Training Programme on Good Laboratory Practice Successfully Concludes

  • An ICAR proposed training programme on "Good Laboratory Practice" (GLP) was conducted for Technical Officers of ICAR institutes from 28th November to 3rd December 2016.

    This hand-on training programme was attended by nine Technical Officers from different ICAR Institutes. The training covered theoretical and practical aspects of basic good laboratory practice in Molecular diagnostic, Microbiology and Molecular Biology laboratories. A complete hands-on training on different aspects of laboratory including handling and maintenance of equipment, identification, handling and disposal of biohazards, basic laboratory etiquettes, biosafety, waste disposal, emergency procedure etc. was provided to the participants.

    The training also covered GLPs specific for specialized laboratories such as the Molecular Diagnostics, Cell culture, Immunology and Biotechnology laboratories, development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for specific laboratories, handling of microbiological samples, sterilization, asepsis etc. The valedictory function was chaired by Dr. Gopal Krishna, Director, ICAR-CIFE. The Director interacted with participants and emphasized that the training should enable the technical officer to develop and implement GLPs in their respective laboratories. The certificates were distributed to participants by the Director ICAR-CIFE.

    The training was coordinated by Aquatic Environment & Health Management, Fish Genetics & Biotechnology and Fisheries Resources, Harvest & Post-harvest Management Divisions of ICAR-CIFE
