Director & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Gopal Krishna addressing the staff and students of CIFE
  • CIFE celebrated 68th Republic Day of India with all fervor and nationalism. The program started with the Director & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Gopal Krishna hoisting the national flag.

In his speech, Dr. Gopal Krishna urged scientists and students to strive hard with complete dedication to achieve the visions of great leaders of this nation who dreamt of a self-sufficient India. India is making rapid strides in agriculture and allied sectors with increased productions of food grains, milk, fish and a collaborative effort by scientists, farmers & industries would lead India to its next blue revolution. We should make earnest efforts to promote fish not only as a healthy food, but also as a cheap source of protein to growing population of the country. As of now, the per capita availability of fish is 9 kg per year and concerted efforts by scientists and farming community is required to bring to this to the FAO standards. For blue revolution, the eastern and north-eastern regions of the country have been earmarked as focus areas of work. We are moving towards digital economy which aids in transparency and we should keep in mind the social benefits as well while working for the country.

The Director congratulated the staff and students of the institute for their contribution to the field of fisheries and expressed his confidence that the ICAR-CIFE will contribute immensely both in research and academics and the students of this institute will continue the legacy of the institute in coming years. The program was followed by cultural events and games.
