XXI Extension Council Meeting of CIFE, Mumbai conducted on 30th January, 2016

  • XXI Extension Council Meeting of CIFE, Mumbai was conducted on 30.1.16 at 11.00 A.M. in Room No. 421 A at CIFE, New Campus. After the initial welcomes, Dr. Gopal Krishna, Director, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai and Chairperson welcomed the members of the Extension Council of CIFE and requested for guidance and support from all members. In his address he presented in brief about CIFE, Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav programme, Skill India, trainings offered by CIFE to the stakeholders and other activities undertaken by CIFE form time to time. He stressed on the importance of Extension Council of CIFE and mentioned the terms of reference of the Extension Council. This was followed by introductions all members and the work which they are involved in.

    Shri. M. Gaikwad, IAS, Commissioner of Fisheries, Maharashtra in his remarks pointed that extension is the backbone of fisheries. He mentioned that CIFE is a unique institute which is involved in academics, research as well as extension work. He suggested that the Arey farm which is with state Government can be used by CIFE for technology demonstration and refinement. He highlighted the importance of skill development for which CIFE has a major role in fisheries.

    Dr. A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (DDG), Agri Extension, ICAR, New Delhi appreciated the extension work of CIFE and stressed that all scientists should be involved in extension activities. He mentioned that extension scientists should focus on extension research and discussed opportunities in Extramural funding and Farmers First Project where scientists can submit projects for funding. He reminded honourable Prime Minister’s focus on Blue revolution towards which concerted effort is needed.

    Action Taken Report based on the Proceedings of the XX Extension Council Meeting was presented by Dr. M. Krishnan, Head FEES Division. The agendas received were presented by Dr. Arpita Sharma, Member Secretary, Extension Council. Agendas discussed were on heads namely Collaborative Efforts with State Government with focus on Maharashtra, Extension Activities for Students/Technical Officers/Scientists, Strengthening of Extension Unit and Strengthening of Extension Activities. During the discussion, involvement of CIFE Scientists in Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav programme was also discussed and elaborated by Dr. S.N. Ojha, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai and was appreciated by Honourable members. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Ananthan P.S., Senior Scientist, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai.
