Shri S. S. Ahluwalia, Hon'ble Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Parliament Affairs, inaugurates Training Programme for Tribal fish farmers (Sundarbans), West Bengal at ICAR-CIFE, Kolkata

    Shri S. S. Ahluwalia, Hon'ble Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Parliament Affairs, Govt. of India visited ICAR-CIFE Kolkata Centre on 19th December 2016. The Hon’ble Minister inaugurated the short term training programme (19-23 December, 2016) on Modern Methods of Fish Culture for Tribal fish farmers from Canning Subdivision, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal.

    Dr. B.K. Mahapatra, Principal Scientist & OIC, ICAR-CIFE, Kolkata Centre welcomed the Hon’ble Minister at the Centre and briefed about the significance of this training programme. In his inaugural address Hon’ble Minister highlighted on the need of skill development and training of fish farmers particularly on integrated fish farming. He also suggested for development of some adopted villages on this line. He expressed his overall happiness over the programme schedule of the training programme and opined that poor tribal fish farmers will be very much benefited by this type of training programme. He also suggested guiding the farmers for any financial help from Bank/other financial organizations.
