The Centre of Excellence in Fisheries Entrepreneurship Development (CEFED) has been established at ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai in May 2025, with financial support from the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) under the Central Sector Scheme of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). CEFED has been created to function as a dedicated centre for promoting fisheries entrepreneurship, innovation, incubation, and enterprise development in alignment with national priorities under PMMSY. As part of its core activities, CEFED conducts regular training, awareness and capacity-building programmes on various aspects of fisheries enterprises and startup development.

  • Guiding startups through expert mentoring
  • Providing access to advanced laboratories and institutional facilities
  • Offering practical training for skill development
  • Supporting business planning, branding, and market linkages
  • Enabling collaboration with industrial experts
  • Assisting in prototype testing and small-scale production
  • Supporting technology adoption and product creation
  • Conduct of weekly training sessions through expert speakers

    • Aquatic Environment & Health Management
    • Fish Nutrition & Biochemistry
    • Fish Genetics & Biotechnology

  • Entrepreneurship promotion through capacity building and knowledge dissemination
