CIFE, Kolkata conducted various programmes Tribal Sub-plan Programme (TSP)

  • Programme of integrated livestock-cum-fish culture in tribal village/area of Haringhata Block of Nadia district.

    CIFE Kolkata Centre has taken up the programme of integrated livestock-cum-fish culture in tribal village/area of Haringhata Block of Nadia district and 25 farm families were identified and assistance was provided in the form of distribution of IMC fingerlings, Khaki Campbell ducklings, fish and duck feed etc. for propagation of duck-cum-fish culture. In 2015 intervention has been done through distribution of piglets and its feed for adoption of pig-cum-fish culture. Average weight of piglets was 22 kg during distribution in the month of August 2015 and in the month of December 2015 animal have attained an average weight of 55 kg.

    Field Demonstration programme at Farmers ponds

    ICAR-CIFE, Kolkata Centre initiated demonstration programme on “Feed-based freshwater prawn & carp polyculture” at Bali island, Sunderban. Ten (10) women farmers were provided starter inputs for Feed-based freshwater prawn & carp polyculture. They were provided all the inputs for preparation of the pond, stocking and post stocking management. On the occasion of Jay Krishan Jay Vighyan, we visited the area on 28th December, 2015 and interacted with the women farmers about the progress of their culture operation during the four months duration. For demonstration of fish growth in four months to other farmers of the area were also participated. Farmers conducted the harvesting operation in all 10 selected ponds to show the growth of fish and prawn.

    Mera Gaon Mera Gaourav (Mgmg) Programme

    Survey was conducted for the Baseline data from 10 selected villages of Sonarpur and Baruipur blocks, Dist. - South 24 Parganas under MGMH programme. Soil samples submitted by 55 farmers from these 10 villages were analysed. Parameters like soil colour, soil pH, soil texture (sand, silt, clay%), water retention capacity, organic carbon%, available nitrogen (ammonia and nitrate), phosphorus, potassium and soil salinity were analysed. Test results were sent to CIFE Mumbai for recommendations based on these soil test reports. Soil health card will be issued to these farmers after completion of all official formalities. Other than these: Soil samples were also analysed for 22 fish farmers from other places for preparation of soil health card.
