Dr. T. Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE & Director General, ICAR with Dr. J. K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries) of ICAR, New Delhi visits ICAR-CIFE, Kolkata Centre

  • Kolkata: Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary DARE & Director General, ICAR with Dr. J. K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries) at ICAR, New Delhi visited the ICAR-CIFE Kolkata centre on 15 June, 2016. The Director General expressed his happiness at the progress made by the centre in all spheres of research, teaching & training and extension. The Director General also emphasised the need for ensuring value chain in the process of training and stressed on delivery of training to stakeholders at nearby centres for the convenience of the participants. The DG stressed on the role of the ICAR-CIFE as a nodal institute for delivery of technology through training programs which are of immense importance in the effort at skilling the stakeholders. He expressed his happiness over the well kept premises and cleanliness that was evident in the campus.

    The DG launched the online training programme of on Culture of Pacific white shrimp Litopenaues vannamei. The DG earlier inaugurated the new Fish Quality Control laboratory on the ICAR-CIFE, Kolkatta campus. He also released the CIFE-DO (Dissolved Oxygen Test Kit) developed by the Centre.

    Dr. J.K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries) addressed the institute and appreciated the all round development of the centre. Dr. Gopal Krishna, Director and Vice Chancellor, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai welcomed the dignitaries and felicitated them on the occasion. Dr. B.K. Mahapatra, Principal Scientist & OIC, ICAR-CIFE, Kolkatta made a brief presentation of the activities of the centre and Dr. M. Krishnan, Head, Social Sciences Division, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai anchored the programme and delivered the vote of thanks.
