Title:“Stock Assessment of Some Fishery Resources of Mumbai coast”
Period: 2001-2003; 2003-2006.

Salient Achievements:
Growth, mortality and stock assessment has been done on eleven species of fishes which includes three cephalopods. The details of the analysis have been published in the form of a book and some of the findings have been published by reputed refereed journals of India and abroad.

Title: Genetic Variation in Ulva species from Natural Resources and Biotechnical Reared Sources”
Period: 2001 – 2004

Salient Achievements:

  • Five species of Ulva spp. were identified for biochemical analysis was carried out.
  • DNA isolated showed the variation among Ulva lobata and other species like U. fasciata and U. lactuca.
  • U. lactuca and U. fasciata are closer to each other as per the similarity index of the two species DNA
Apart from this, on the research front, during the last five years stock assessment studies on eight species of fish and three species of cephalopods have been done. This is based on the length frequency data collected over a period of seven years. A number of research papers have been published in referred journals after analysis of the same using standard procedure for age, growth, mortality and stock assessment.
