The Indian Fisheries Association was established in 1968 with a view to provide a common platform for Fishery

Scientists to exchange views and organizing discussions on various aspects of fishery science.  Its membership comprises of  fishery scientists in Central and State Governments, Universities, Colleges and in the research organizations in India and abroad.  The association organises special lectures, symposia, seminars, workshops and farmers meets on the various upcoming aspects of fisheries. The Association also publishes a scientific journal called “Journal of the Indian Fisheries Association”.  It contains original contribution from eminent scientists in the field of fisheries and related subjects and has a wide circulation.
