INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

 

Manuscript requirements

         Submission of a manuscript demands that it is solely intended for publication in Journal of the Indian Fisheries Association. Atleast one of the authors should be a member of the association. Manuscript should be type-written on one side in double space leaving 4 cm margin and submitted in duplicate consisting of the original and one copy. Manuscripts should not exceed 15 typed pages for full length papers and 6 for notes. Authors are advised to consult a recent issue of the Journal for style and layout. The Editorial Committee reserves the right to make alteration to maintain uniformity.

Manuscript details

         The matter should be arranged in the following sequence and all the titles to be typed in capital letters.

Title

         The title of the manuscript should be brief and encompass the contents of the paper. This is followed by names of the aughors with initials preceeding the name. The address given below the name should be underscored/italicised. A condensed title for running head and key words to a maximum of 5 need to beprovided.

Abstract

Should not exceed 200 words. This should highlight the salient point and recapitulate the findings and conclusions.

Introduction

         State precisely the scope of the paper. Review of literature should be limited to providing the essential background and reason to take up the study.

Material and Methods

         Limited to the requirement in understanding the design of the study and judging whether data obtained are adequate. Procedures to be clearly stated by citing the reference. New method and deviation from existing method should be described in sufficient detail. The mmetric system should be used all data.

Results and Discussion

         This can be combined or given under separate headings. The result part should present essential data foor understanding discussion and conclusions emerging from the study. The same data are not to be presented both in tabular and graphic forms. The discussion should be interpretation of results without repeating information already presented under results. Discussion should deal with the new finding in relation to the existing and logical deducations.

Acknowledgments

         Should be brif and specific.

Reference

         Citation of literature should have author, year, title, name of journal and volume number inclusive of pages. Abbrevation of the name of the journal should be according to recognised form. Reference must be listed alphabetically in the following style :

Tables

         Tables should be typed on separate sheets. Tables should bear brief title. Negative results should be indicated ‘nil’ and absence of a datum by a dash.

Illustration

         Drawing should be made of Indian ink on good quality tracing paper. For sasitactory reproduction the drawings are to be made approximately twice the printed size. The lettering should be large enough to permit reduction. Photographs should be on glossy paper and must show good contrast. Captions and legends to the figures should be typed on a separate sheet of paper.

Footnotes

         Should be avoided as far as possible. When required it should be indicated by superscribed reference marks (*,+, etc.)

Proofs and Reprints

         Proof will be sent to the author for scrutiny. The corrected proof should be sent back within 2 days. Authors are required to keep the Editor informed of any change of theif address.

         Ten reprints will be supplied gratis- Additional reprints, if required, will be supplied on payment and should be ordered in multiples of 25 at the time of submission of the corrected proof.
