STP on Ornamental fish
CIFE has introduced carp and prawn poly culture for the first time in the North Eastern States of Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Mizoram successfully to diversify aquaculture practices and to ensure higher farm income. Conventional prawn hatcheries need seawater (and hence all of them based in coastal states mainly Andhra Pradesh) which is unavailable in inland land locked states. CIFE has developed the innovative prawn hatchery technology using artificial seawater.
This has made possible to takeup prawn culture in inland areas that made aquaculture more economically viable. CIFE not only demonstrated this technology to North Eastern States, but subsequently provided the technical support to establish prawn hatcheries, demonstrated its operations, and trained the technical staff.
