Gender and Development' (GAD): South Asian Context
 
 

CIFE is organizing an international training course on 'Gender and Development' (GAD): South Asian Context where the focus will be on exploring and analyzing a variety of inter-related perspectives on gender and development. 

 

  Preamble:
 

Gender refers to a set of qualities and behaviours expected from a female or male by society. Gender roles are learned and can be affected by factors such as education or economics. They vary widely within and among cultures.  In order to reduce poverty, promote development and achieve gender equality, it is necessary to increase women's access to economic resources, education, information and communication technologies and governance.

 

 

Objectives:

· To make the participants aware about the issues of Gender and Development in South Asian Context

· To identify, assess and understand gender and work in fisheries

· To enable learners to appreciate gender mainstreaming

· To enable participants to perform gender analysis of policies

 

 

Training Methodology:
 

Training methodology includes lectures, discussions, case studies, country report presentations, experience sharing sessions, innovative educational and learning methods.

 

 

Expected outcome:

 

At the end of the training program the participants will be able to appreciate issues and develop knowledge skills related to Gender and Development in South Asian Context. The training course will bring together participants from different countries to discuss, review and draw common and not so common themes related to gender and development  resulting in creation of shared experiences.

Course Content:

 

The possible course contents for the training course are listed below but in addition online pre-training session will be held to have a competent participatory curriculum content as per the needs, knowledge and skill sets of learners.

·  Gender and work

·  Gender and Fisheries

·  Gender Sensitive Programming

·  Gender Analysis Frameworks

·  Making Governance Gender Responsive

·  Mainstreaming Gender

 

 

  Duration: 14 days
 
 

Faculty:
 

CIFE has experienced faculty of global competence and international exposure to conduct training programme on 'Gender and Development'. The institute also has multidisciplinary faculty to enrich the participants on the concerned sub-topics. In addition resource persons from other organizations will be invited for interactive discussions.
